How Promo Model Pricing Works

A plain guide for brands, event teams and exhibitors: how promo models are priced, what moves the number, how to estimate a budget and what a good quote shows.

The short answer

Promo models are usually priced per hour or per day. At SD Model Promoters, booking rates start at $50 per model, per hour. Rates go up with the role, the model's experience, how long and how many days you need them, the date, and where the job is. The rate depends on the role, the person's experience, how long and how many days you need them, the date, and where the job is. Your total is roughly the rate, times the hours, times the people, times the days, plus any extras.

Because of that, no single number answers "how much does a promo model cost?" The useful question is what your plan costs in total, and whether the quote shows how it was built.

How rates are set

Hourly rates suit shorter jobs and shifts that vary from day to day. Day rates suit a full show day with steady hours. Many bookings also carry a minimum shift, so a short job does not always cost less than a longer one.

Long days are handled differently by different companies. Some use a longer-day rate or overtime, and some set a flat day rate. Ask how it works before the show, not after.

What moves the price

  • The person

Each model has her own rate, so two people in the same role can cost different amounts. Your total depends on who you pick.

  • The role

A greeter, a product demonstrator and a product specialist are different jobs. The more the person has to learn and explain, the more the role usually costs.

  • Experience and skills

Veterans with years in the field, bilingual talent, medical or technical product knowledge and on-camera comfort can all change the rate.

  • Hours and days

Longer shifts and more days add up. Minimum shifts and long-day rules also matter.

  • The date and the demand

Holidays, big shows and busy weeks fill up and can cost more. Early requests have more choice.

  • Location and travel

Local talent avoids travel costs. Parking, transport and offsite venues can add to the total.

  • Extras

Wardrobe, badges, content capture such as photo, video or UGC, and setup days are often priced separately.

  • Notice

Short-notice requests can be harder to fill, so ask what is available as early as you can.

How to estimate your budget

Start with the plan, then multiply. For example, 4 people working 3 days at 8 hours a day is 96 paid hours before any extras. Put your hourly rate or day rate on that number and add the extras below.

Then add what is not in the rate: travel, parking, wardrobe, content capture, and any setup or move-in days you want covered. Ask which of these are included so nothing arrives on the invoice as a surprise.

What to ask for in a quote

  • Rate per person

Per hour or per day, for each role you are booking.

In our app: Each model has her own rate. You set a budget when you send a request, and the app warns you if a model's booking rate is above it.

  • Minimum shift

The shortest booking the rate applies to.

  • Long days

How hours past a standard day are charged.

  • What is included

Travel, parking, badges and wardrobe: who provides them.

In our app: The request summary says who provides the attire, and the confirmed plan spells out the rest.

  • Cancellations and replacements

What happens if talent cancels, and who finds the replacement.

  • How hours are tracked

Clock-in records and how you approve them.

In our app: Talent clock in and out from their phones, and you review the hours and approve them or ask for changes.

  • Invoice and payment

When you are invoiced and how you pay.

In our app: Your invoice lists each model's hours and rate, the total and the due date, and you can email it or save it from the app. Nothing is charged until the event is done.

What a clear quote looks like with us

At SD Model Promoters you pick people from the roster and send your dates, venue and head count. We check availability, ask the talent and confirm with you. Each model has her own rate, so the cost depends on who you pick. Talent, schedule and rates are laid out in one summary for you to review before you confirm.

On show days, talent clock in and out from their phones. After the event you review the hours and confirm them or ask for changes, and the invoice is built from the hours worked.

Ways to keep the cost sensible

  • Book early

More choice, less rush, and holiday dates are easier to fill.

  • Right-size the team

Tell us the booth layout and your goals and we suggest a number of people instead of guessing.

  • Match the role to the job

If you only need greeting and lead capture, you may not need a product specialist.

  • Use local talent

No travel costs to build in.

  • Add content only if you need it

Photo, video and UGC are optional and only included when you choose them.

Promo model pricing FAQs

How much does a promo model cost?

At SD Model Promoters, booking rates start at $50 per model, per hour, and go up with the role, the model's experience, how long the shift is, the date and where it is. Each model has her own rate, so the useful number is the total for your plan. Send your dates, hours and head count and we come back with a quote that shows each line.

Do all models cost the same?

No. Each model has her own rate, so two people in the same role can cost different amounts. At SD Model Promoters you set a budget when you send a request, and the app warns you if a model's booking rate is above it, so you can raise the budget or pick someone else.

Are promo models paid per hour or per day?

Both are common. Hourly rates suit shorter or varied shifts. Day rates suit a full show day. Either way, ask what the minimum shift is and how longer days are handled.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

Usually, yes. Many bookings have a minimum shift, so a very short job can cost about the same as a longer one. Ask for the minimum before you confirm.

Why do two quotes for the same booth differ?

They may be pricing different things. Check the role, the experience level, the shift length, what is included for travel, parking, badges and wardrobe, and how cancellations and replacements are handled.

Does it cost more at a big show or on a holiday?

It can. Busy weeks and holiday dates are harder to fill, and early requests give you more choice. Book as soon as your dates and plan are set.

Can I see the price before I confirm?

You should always be able to. At SD Model Promoters the talent, schedule and rates are laid out in one summary for you to review before you confirm.
